Roswell Daily Record Endorses Ed Tinsley for Congress |
Sunday, May 25, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Christopher Maloney (575) 993-1182
Edward R. Tinsley for U.S. House District 2 Republican Primary
With five candidates, the Republican contest for the District 2 U.S. House seat is hands down the most crowded race on local ballots. It's also the toughest race in which to spot the differences between most of the candidates. Fortunately for us, on did stand out in our interviews: Edward R. Tinsley
As we watched the Leadership Roswell Alumni Association's Candidate Forum we were struck by how similar the candidates' responses were as each one took his turn answering questions. The forum, while more abbreviated than our one-on-one interviews, precisely mirrored our discussions with the candidates. Without noticeable exception, the candidates have all adopted the Republican Party's position on the important issues of the day.
Lacking a distinct difference amongst the candidates as far as their platforms, we were left to make our decision based on how the candidates discussed the issues, and on their credentials. After weighing the candidates' qualifications, we quickly decided Tinsley possesses the strongest resume and the greatest depth of knowledge about the needs of District 2, the state and the country.
Tinsley represents the best Republican candidate to represent our region. He understands small business. He recognizes the challenges of the oil and gas industry, which is critical to our part of the state. He also represents the strong societal values of our region. Surrounded by a field of look-alikes, Tinsley is the one candidate who stands out.
The Daily Record endorses Edward R. Tinsley in the Republican primary contest for U.S. House, District 2. |

On New Mexican Issues
"I am a small business operator and know firsthand that keeping dollars in the hands of working New Mexico families is good for our economy. Keeping taxes low means that small businesses can grow, hire more employees and buy new equipment."

On National Issues
9-11 was a shock to America and our sense of security. It was a wake up call as to our vulnerability in this world, and the enemies that seek to destroy our nation. No American wants to live through another such assault. I pledge to protect our nation’s security. |
