Tinsley Slams Obama: Calls for Apology Following Candidate's Comments About Working Class Americans |
Monday, April 14, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Christopher Maloney (575) 993-1182
Ruidoso, NM: Ed Tinsley, Republican candidate for the Second Congressional District, made the following statement in response to Senator Obama's stance on the sentiment of working-class Americans:
"Senator Obama's disturbing language shows a fundamental disconnect between the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee and millions of law-abiding Americans of faith across our country.
"I understand that Barack Obama was in front of his friends and supporters at a San Francisco fund-raiser, but only a candidate from the liberal pro-amnesty wing of the Democratic Party could possibly believe that Southern New Mexicans harbor resentment toward those who cross our border illegally, simply due to their economic frustrations. We work everyday to further secure our border because we are a nation of laws and every American deserves to live in a country where they feel safe and secure.
"Small-town Americans freely exercise their religion of choice, possess fire arms and endeavor to live in a secure nation because they are Americans. We owe these freedoms not to the bitter frustrations we harbor as working-class Americans, but to the liberties afforded us by the founders of this nation and the men and women who fight on the battlefield everyday to perpetuate them. These beliefs are not the end result of aggravation, they are liberties which comprise the fiber of our country's being and deserve to be celebrated, not utilized for political gamesmanship.
"Barack Obama should apologize for his disdainful comments and the blanket charactizations he made against the American people."
