FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Christopher Maloney (575) 993-1182
RUIDOSO, NM - Ed Tinsley, Republican candidate for the Second Congressional District, today made the following statement in response to General Petraeus’s and Ambassador Crocker’s testimonies in Washington, DC.
“The clear and candid assessment presented to Congress and the American public by General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker, shows that the surge strategy has proven to be effective in reducing violence in Iraq.
“General Petraeus has demonstrated that the defeatist, cut and run mentality of Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and other like-minded liberal Democrats in Washington is clearly not in the best interest of achieving stability in Iraq. Tactical decisions which will guide the course of our country’s involvement in Iraq deserve to be made by our Commander-in-chief and generals on the ground.
“If the Congress is concerned about protecting our soldiers fighting abroad, it should end its dangerous refusal to pass the bipartisan, Senate-passed legislation to modernize the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
“The immeasurable sacrifices made by the patriotic soldiers and veterans of New Mexico and America, along with their families, are more than commendable.
“General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker deserve to be praised for their past, present and continued service in defense of our nation and freedom in the world.”
