Tinsley on Energy and Natural Resources |
Background and Challenge
On Energy Policy:
- Tinsley believes the U.S. must do more to protect, promote, and further develop our domestic oil and gas industry.
- Tinsley is a proponent of less regulation, taxation, and legislation on America’s oil and gas producers.
- Tinsley also understands, however, that we should explore new ways to retrieve our traditional sources of energy with less environmental impact.
- Tinsley supports opening up federal lands for exploration and development and in removing barriers so that we can build more refineries right here at home.
- Tinsley supports our nation’s commitment to reduce dependence on foreign energy and, thus, understands the need for domestic, renewable energy sources.
- Tinsley is a proponent of continued research and development for alternative energy sources such as: nuclear, solar, and wind power.
On Conservation and Environmental Protection:
- Tinsley believes it’s every Americans duty to do their part and be proper stewards of the earth and its natural resources. Ensuring clean air, clean water, sustainable land use, and ample green space – is just good common sense and necessary for human, animal and plant life.
- Tinsley encourages conservation, but does not believe the government should legislate conservation.
- Tinsley is also a proponent of protecting our National Park System.
- Tinsley believes that the best decisions concerning the environment and its protection can and should be made by the New Mexico state agencies, which have been granted such authority through our Constitution and by law. What is best for New Mexico can best be determined by New Mexicans and not by Washington bureaucrats.
On Closed-Loop Systems:
- Tinsley believes that any new Rule should be based upon sound science and the evidence and testimony of certified experts. The details of this new Rule could have a profound impact on the oil and natural gas industry, our state and local economies and should not be based upon politics.
